My name is JaVonne and I am a Chakaholic

No, Chaka Khan has not appeared on my show (yet), nor has she ever physically been in my basement (I would be speechless so what would be the point?)  HOWEVER every show has a Chaka Khan moment...Why????...Because I LOVE HER!!!

In 1977 when I first heard "Tell Me Something Good" I fell in love. Deeply in love. I bought every vinyl, every magazine, poster, anything I could get my hands on that was Chaka Khan. I was only 12 when I saw her in person for the first time. (Thank you cousin Teenie). She touched my hand during that concert and influenced  my love and appreciatiation for live music. I was 15 when I handed her a poem I wrote for her, and kissed her not so gently (my bad)...I've loved her through the good, through the bad, through the ugly, through the fire, and always, always she has been a beautiful angel to me. Her music, her voice, her look, her smile, I am a Chaka Khan (fan)atic.  I have so many Chaka Khan memories and moments I could share, but you'll have to listen to the show or speak with me one on one to get the details. I have seen her in concert and have had a few personal experiences with her that I will treasure forever. The last time I spoke with her personally was years ago at The Blue Note in NYC. She walked by and I told her I'm a Chakaholic and I love her. She smiled and said she loved me too. That's just one of those special moments that I will always treasure.  She doesn't know me personally, and although we are only one degree of separation (I know several people who know her personally Uggh!), In my spirit, I know her and I live her, through music and universal energy. She has belted out the soundtrack of my life and I will always love her for that!
